Robert Moeck

Vital Factors Consultant

Robert Moeck is an accomplished executive leader with more than two decades of hands-on experience building and scaling complex manufacturing, distribution, and metals businesses. Based in Los Angeles, Robert has led organizations ranging from $15M to $1.8B in revenue, with full P&L responsibility up to $150M and operational budgets approaching $130M. His career blends rigorous operational discipline, turnaround expertise, and a talent for building high-performing teams across multi-site operations.

Robert’s leadership foundation was forged in the U.S. Navy Submarine Fleet, where he completed advanced technical and leadership training, including Naval Nuclear Power School, and emerged as a Master Training Specialist. The discipline, systems thinking, and people development skills he gained in the Navy have been central to his leadership style: clear accountability, structured training, and a focus on measurable performance improvement.

In his most recent private-sector roles, Robert has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to unite disparate sites and functions around common goals. As Director of Operations for Gibraltar Industries, he unified four previously siloed plants, implemented transparent reporting and safety programs, and led inventory optimization initiatives. Within months, he reduced retailer fines, cut inventory, and improved division profitability, helping the unit achieve top-performer status and materially increasing valuation. He also led AI-enabled vendor and process optimizations that delivered rapid cash and production improvements and were scaled across the company.

As CEO of Bay Cities Metal Products, Robert took charge of a multi-site metal roofing manufacturer through a significant turnaround. He rebuilt core functions, including finance, operations, sales, and purchasing, instilled new SOPs for customer service and inventory accuracy, and developed KPI-driven reporting to the Board. These changes reversed customer attrition, lifted annual sales, and substantially boosted EBITDA, ultimately multiplying the company’s valuation and establishing replicable best practices for M&A integrations.

Robert’s tenure as President and CEO of Douglas Steel Supply further highlights his capability in high-stakes environments. When tariffs and market volatility created inventory oversupply and constrained liquidity, he executed rapid cash preservation and financing strategies, negotiated favorable lending and supplier terms, and restored cash flow and operational stability. His experience navigating trade impacts, lender relationships, and working-capital crises provides him with direct credibility in industries where macro policy and market shifts have outsized operational effects.

Today, as Managing Partner of Verto Business Consulting, Robert applies his operational and financial expertise across a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, HVAC, CPG, and restaurants. He serves as a fractional president, VP of sales, operations advisor, and M&A integration resource. At Verto, he focuses on workflow optimization, leadership coaching, KPI design, Lean methodologies, and scalable process implementation, translating complex challenges into prioritized, actionable plans that improve margin and cash flow.

Throughout his career, Robert has been a builder of teams, recruiting, mentoring, and leading groups of up to 300 employees while fostering cross-functional collaboration at each location he oversees. He pairs strategic vision with practical execution, balancing growth ambitions with financial discipline.

Robert is driven by a simple purpose: to help businesses thrive. He combines operational rigor, financial stewardship, and a people-first leadership approach to deliver sustainable performance improvements and long-term value for owners, boards, and stakeholders.
